Philanthropic Cause
All proceeds from the Tug for the Town will benefit the Charlottesville Free Clinic and Reading is Fundamental. Charlottesville Free Clinic is a local organization dedicated to the building up of our community.  It provides an "Open Door to Health Care" for those members of our community unable to obtain it. The Clinic treats more than 2,000 patients per year and provides $300,000 in free prescriptions to those in need.  Reading is Fundamental is a national organization whose mission is to motivate young children to read by working with them, their parents, and community members to make reading a fun and beneficial part of everyday life.  Both the Charlottesville Free Clinic and Reading is Fundamental operate on funding from the community and Beta Theta Pi and Kappa Kappa Gamma are proud to offer their support.

Our Mission of Service
Beta Theta Pi and Kappa Kappa Gamma's dedication to mutual assistance calls for a commitment to making meaningful contributions to the University and Charlottesville communities. The natural fullness of humanity comes from social and intellectual life. Not only do we need air, food, water, clothing and shelter; we also need companionship and mental stimulation.

Event Details
On April 17th, 2011, teams of five from around the University community will gather for an afternoon of live music, free food, and an intense tug of war tournament.  Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers from each league.
