Welcome from the President

This is the official website of the Omicron Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at the University of Virginia.  The Chapter was founded in 1855 and was most recently re-colonized in 2007.  We invite you to learn more about our history and lore at the University of Virginia and nationwide.

Welcome to the Omicron Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at the University of Virginia! We in Beta Theta Pi consider ourselves above all else brothers and friends, but commit ourselves also to being gentlemen, scholars, servants, and leaders. I invite you to explore our website and learn more about a fraternity steeped in history and tradition, energized by a common vision, and constituted by a diverse group of 59 outstanding college men.

   --Patrick McDonald, Chapter President

Beta's Men of Principle Initiative

 Men of Principle

Betas are Men of Principle and hold ourselves to a higher commitment.  The mission of this initiative includes cultivation of the intellect, responsible leadership, lifelong friendship, responsible social conduct, and a commitment to community.  More than merely a list of attributes, this higher commitment leads to a framework for success, such as being rated as the Best Fraternity for CEOs by Forbes Magazine in 2003.  For more on Men Of Principle, click here.

This chapter awards $1500 per year to non-Greek men who embody the Beta Principles.

Scholarship and Cultivation of the Intellect

Brothers of the Omicron Chapter place high value on "cultivation of the intellect".  We invite distinguished speakers and hold regular study hours.  In addition to committing ourselves to academic pursuits, we recognize academic excellence within the non-Greek community at UVa by offering annual scholarships.  As of the last semester, we are fortunate to have an average fraternity GPA of 3.55.

 Philanthropy & Community Service

Betas are involved with a multitude of community service around Charlottesville.  Betas believe it is important to remember that UVa is not simply a bubble, but an integral part of Charlottesville and greater Albemarle County.  Thus, we have set ourselves a combined standard of at least 795hrs of service per semester.

The following is a selected list of community service events from last semester.
